Kids at the Home Street Academy to finally get a new playground

For more than a decade, kids who attend the Home Street Academy had no playground to enjoy. But after years of putting pressure on education officials, ground has finally been broken for a new playground.

The Home Street Academy, which houses M.S. 158, M.S. 267 and P.S. 212, had its playground closed by the Department of Education more than a decade ago due to unsafe conditions. Parents say getting a new playground is a major victory for the more than 1,000 kids attending the school.

The playground is expected to be complete by late November or December.
