Straphangers campaign releases study of slowest buses in the Bronx

(09/25/04) HIGHBRIDGE - The slowest bus in the Bronx earned a dishonorable mention this week in an annual survey by the straphangers campaign, a public interest organization.

The study shows that the BX-13 bus, which runs from Highbridge to Manhattan, averages about 5.2 mph. That is less than half the speed of the borough's fastest reported bus, the BX-29.

The BX-42 in Throgs Neck was also cited in the survey for its slow service. The straphangers campaign says it takes longer to ride that Bronx bus line than to take an Amtrak train from New York to Philadelphia.
