Deadline day for Bronx parents to submit school transfer request

The clock is ticking for parents in the Bronx and city to submit a school transfer request for their child.

All requests to have a child removed from a failing school must be submitted by the end of the school day Monday. The school transfer system is part of the No Child Left Behind Act, which gives parents the option of having their kids moved out of a failing school.

The only problem is the limited space in non-failing schools. That's why Schools Chancellor Joel Klein says many Bronx and city students will not get the transfers they request.
