MTA warns fare hikes are possible if it doesn't receive state funding for projects

MTA officials are warning that if it does not receive funding from the state for current projects and operating expenses it may have to hike fares once again.

MTA officials say the price of discount MetroCards, tolls and train rides plus cutbacks to subway and bus service and token booths are all things that would be affected.

The MTA released a preliminary budget over the summer and is expected to vote on the final budget in December. Bronx residents will have a chance to voice their concerns before the vote.
