Construction on new water filtration plant in Van Cortlandt Park will go ahead

Construction on the new water filtration plant will continue after a judge lifted an injunction filed by Friends of Van Cortlandt Park. The injunction said the city was not following proper zoning laws.

The judge said that a mayoral override keeps the city from having to go through the zoning procedure.

Many other groups such as the Croton Watershed Clean Water Coalition are still trying to keep the project from getting started. With all the lawsuits pending, the sState Supreme Court warned that the city may want to consolidate all cases regarding the Bronx site.
