Student's appreciation of Bronx teacher helps boost music program

(10/12/04) MORRISANIA Praise for one Bronx teacher has helped a local school net a grant for its music program.

A student at P.S. 2 in the Bronxs Morrisania section entered an essay contest touting the merits of his music teacher, Tom Hall. The essay won first place, and now P.S. 2 is benefiting from a $15,000 first-prize grant. The money will be applied toward the schools music program for instruments and field trips.

Hall has been teaching at P.S. 2 for 17 years. School officials say he stopped teaching non-music subjects five years ago and focused primarily on expanding P.S. 2s music program and classes.
