Students clean up Poe Park in Fordham as part of citywide 'It's My Park' campaign

(10/16/04) FORDHAM - Some Fordham residents cleaned up Poe Park as part of the "It's My Park" campaign. As part of the citywide cleanup, volunteers from Friends of Poe Park and people in the community planted trees and flower bulbs that will bloom in the spring.

Many of the volunteers were students from nearby schools, including Walton High School, which has a horticulture program. Those that took part say it is a way for them to give something back to their community.

Bronx students at the event say it was enjoyable to participate in a hands-on learning experience.
