MTA to close 15 token booths in the Bronx to balance its budget

As a way to balance its budget and keep the system running, the MTA says service and fare changes are necessary. One part of the proposed plan includes closing 15 subway token booths in the Bronx. If the proposal goes through and the booths are closed, some Bronx residents say they will not feel as safe as they do now. Many feel the token booths are necessary for safety and convenience. The MTA will vote in December on whether or not to keep the booths open.
