Groups equip underprivileged Bronx students with new learning tools

(10/23/04) MOTT HAVEN Some homeless Bronx students will walk into the classroom next week ready to learn with brand new supplies.

The students received backpacks, notebooks, pencils, highlighters and other materials courtesy of the Citizens Advice Bureau and World Vision. Recipients of the supplies were children living in the Jackson Avenue Family Residence shelter.

A World Vision spokesperson says the organization wanted to reach out to children in the shelter because underprivileged youths are often the ones who fall through the cracks.
