Bronx residents protest Parkchester health clinic?s hour reduction

Approximately 20 people, including the borough president, protested the Glebe Clinics plan to cut back its hours Monday.

As of November 1, the pediatric clinic in Parkchester will only see patients on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The center will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Officials at the center blame budget problems for the reduction.

Some Bronx residents are worried their children arent going to get the immunizations and medications they need. Officials at the clinic say fewer operating hours wont affect the facilitys overall services.

Glebe Clinic is run by the Jacobi Medical Center. The federal government mandates Jacobi must maintain the clinic as part of a financial agreement. The clinic treats Bronx residents with or without health insurance.
