Residents considered high risk to catch the flu get vaccines at East Tremont clinic

Bronx residents considered at a high risk to catch the flu lined up around the block at the East Tremont clinic Tuesday to receive a flu vaccine.

The clinic, which is run by the city, gives out approximately 200 flu shots per day on a first come, first serve basis to those who are high risk. Residents who are over 65 or have a medical illness are considered in the high risk category.

The mayor insists the city is working overtime to bring in thousands of extra vaccines. Health officials say the East Tremont clinic will be giving out shots every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until its supply runs out.
