President of NYC Transit testifies in the BX at hearing on MTA's 2005 budget

The president of NYC transit testified Thursday before the State Assembly Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Committees at Bronx Borough Hall regarding the MTA's proposed 2005 budget.

The president discussed the MTA's large budget deficit explaining that although the $2 bus and subway fare would remain, other increases are on the horizon. Included in the MTA's plan are increases to weekly and monthly discount MetroCards, hikes for tolls on MTA-run bridges and tunnels, and a change in price to ride express buses.

Also scheduled to testify Thursday is a representative from the Bronx and a member of the borough president's office.

A public hearing on the MTA budget will be held on Thursday, November 9.
