City to meet with contractors about sewer project delay in Throgs Neck

(11/07/04) THROGS NECK - Contractors working on a new sewer project in Throgs Neck have mysteriously walked off the job, and residents of Graff Avenue say their street has been left in a dangerous state of disrepair.

Residents say workers left behind potholes, uneven sidewalks and a hazardous mess when they left the job last week. Todino Water and Sewer Services was hired by the city to work on the Hammond Cove sewer project. Workers were close to completing the first phase of it when they left, causing some folks to worry that their street may not be fixed before winter.

Officials from the city's Department of Design and Construction say they will be meeting with the contractor during the next several days to clear up why the workers have abandoned the project.
