Teacher at Richard R. Green Middle School recovering from viral meningitis

A teacher at Richard R. Green Middle School is recovering from viral meningitis and parents say they don't know a lot of details about the incident.

Health and education officials confirmed that the teacher has been out of school since November 10 after being hospitalized for meningitis. Parents say they received a letter about the teachers condition but feel they could be better informed.

Although viral meningitis is contagious, health officials say it's not as serious as the bacterial form of the disease. They say viral meningitis can be serious but is rarely fatal.
