NYPD warns Bronx residents against possible pickpockets

The NYPD says this is the season when pickpockets strike and it's warning Bronx residents to be careful.

Police say pickpocket thieves tend to use scams to distract shoppers. The NYPD recommends being aware of loud arguments or commotions and being unnecessarily bumped or crowded.

The police also say residents should carry their pocketbooks close and keep their wallets inside coats or side pockets. To catch pickpockets, the NYPD says it has teams of undercover officers patrolling Bronx shopping districts.
