Bronx mother claims family is being evicted for complaining about conditions

A Bronx mother says as of Tuesday she and her kids will be homeless. She claims her landlord threw them out for complaining about the living conditions.

Nadine Acosta says her apartment at 1129 Saint Lawrence Avenue was unlivable. She says windows didn't stay open, closets had mold and the bathtub was clogged. Acosta admits she was given more than a month to find a new apartment, but has had trouble locating a new place.

Meanwhile, the Department of Housing, Preservation and Development says there's been more than 20 outstanding violations on Acosta's apartment. Officials say other apartments are also in bad shape. After repeated attempts to get the owner to fix the problems, HPD took him to court.

The court has since ruled that the owner, Frank Palazzolo, must correct 339 violations. He has between 30 and 60 days to make the repairs.
