Police officer and five others busted in a drug robbery sting in the Bronx

NYPD police officer Porfirio Meijia, 28 and five others were busted in a drug robbery sting and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to distribute narcotics.

The bust was part of a joint investigation between the NYPD Internal Affairs Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency. According to police, the investigation began after they learned about several robberies of homes where drugs were kept. Police say they then discovered that one of the robbers was a police officer.

The information police received led them to have an informant tell the robbers about drug dealers who could be robbed at a Bronx parking lot. Police say the group of six suspects showed up to the parking lot and were arrested.

Meijia resigned his position with the Housing Bureau's special operations division. He had been an officer since 2000.
