Bronx doctors warn patients about side effects from certain prescription drugs

(12/12/04) SOUNDVIEW - Doctors urge Bronx patients taking prescription drugs to read the fine print on the bottles and to keep in touch.

The recent recall of Vioxx has many doctors working hard to make sure their patients are not experiencing side effects. Bronx medical experts say patients should have discussions with their doctors about their prescription treatments, especially if folks are taking a combination of medications.

According to medical experts, common side effects of flawed prescription drugs are rash, itching, breathing troubles and swelling. Doctors urge residents to contact them if they experience any of those symptoms.
