Santa Claus makes early visit to the Bronx for the annual A.T. Toy Drive

(12/12/04) CLAREMONT - Santa Claus made an early visit to the Bronx Sunday morning for the A.T. Toy Drive.

He came to hand out toys and games to Bronx and city kids who are homeless this holiday season. Kids sat on Santa's lap and left with a gift.

Bronx resident Anthony Torres started the toy drive in Brooklyn back in 1983. Years later, the group included bringing gifts to kids in shelters in the Bronx. The NYPD is a major supporter of the A.T. Toy Drive.

Last year's drive collected and distributed nearly 8,000 toys to homeless children in the Bronx and Manhattan.
