Experts give Bronx residents tips on how to drive safely in wintry weather

Snow in the forecast could mean some dangerous driving conditions for Bronx residents. Experts from AAA have given residents tips on how to drive safely in wintry weather.

Some residents are worried about driving in the snow because the roads are slippery and their cars may skid. AAA says if residents find themselves skidding, they should look at where they want to go and steer in that direction.

Bronx drivers with four-wheel drive or SUVs should make sure they know how to handle their vehicles. According to AAA, many accidents involving SUVs occur because people do not know how to drive them properly.

Lastly, AAA officials say drivers should take it slow and increase the distance between their cars and the cars in front of them. They add that it can take up to nine times as long to stop a car in winter conditions than it would on dry pavement.
