Bronx shoppers hit stores the day after Christmas for returns, post-holiday sales

(12/26/04) MARBLE HILL - Many Bronx shoppers hit the stores the day after Christmas to get ready for next year's holiday season.

Calling it an annual tradition, Bronx residents stocked up on seasonal supplies like wrapping paper, holiday cards, and Christmas tree lights -- all of which are generally sold at sale prices for being leftover items this year. Shoppers say the day after Christmas is also a great opportunity to buy a few extra gifts.

Consumer advocates say the day after Christmas is traditionally a busy day for returns and exchanges. The New York City Department Of Consumer Affairs advises Bronx residents to know their rights when it comes to gift returns by visiting their Web site or by calling the city's 3-1-1 hotline.
