Despite the winter slump, more businesses are opening in City Island
Despite the usual winter season slump, City Island Chamber of Commerce members say more businesses are opening than closing in the area. Twelve new stores including the first franchise development, a Baskin Robbins, opened this year. Other stores that opened include a bakery, tailor and doll store. Owners say local customers are the ones who keep them in business during the winter season. The chamber of commerce says it does have one concern for local businesses. There will be road construction within the next few months on City Island. Officials say they're working on plans now to keep the construction from affecting local businesses.
