Yenfri Ramirez, 19, has been sentenced to 44 years to life in prison for a 2011 triple-shooting in University Heights that left two men dead.
Allen Michael Matos, 22, and Edwin Liz, 17, were gunned down at Devoe Park after an argument broke out involving Ramirez's brother.
The prosecutor asked the judge to send a strong message to deter young people from carrying and using firearms.
Ramirez asked the court for forgiveness, but insisted that he did not kill the two men. His attorney claims DNA evidence on the weapon does not belong to Ramirez, and he says they will begin the appeal process immediately.
