Program aimed at helping recovering alcoholics find jobs heading to the Bronx

A program that has been around for more than 30 years helping recovering alcoholics find jobs is now heading to the Bronx.

The Employment Program for Recovering Alcoholics (EPRA) is opening in Fordham. The EPRA provides work experience, training and placement for those who are referred by a rehabilitation program. After a four to eight week internship at a non-profit organization, the participants get help in finding more substantial work.

About 80 percent of those who complete the program go on to get jobs that pay more than $8 an hour. Anyone interested in attending the program can take part in an open house Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wagner Building located at 2488 Grand Concourse.
