Increased police presence at most dangerous BX schools proves successful

Having an increased police presence at schools labeled the most dangerous in the Bronx has proven to have made a difference.

Overall crime is down at seven of the most dangerous Bronx schools, resulting in some of them being taken off the list. According to Mayor Bloomberg, robberies, assaults and crimes with weapons are all down in Bronx schools.

One of the most improved schools is MS 222. The school has now been taken off the mayor's list of most dangerous schools. Mayor Bloomberg says in 2003 there were five major incidents at the school but in 2004 there were none.

While some schools were removed others have been added. Truman High School now makes the list, so students there will soon see increased security. For those schools taken off the list, security will be phased out but not withdrawn completely.
