Off-duty officer shoots suspect in Morrisania following an argument
Police are investigating an incident Monday in which an off-duty NYPD officer shot and wounded a suspect in Morrisania.
According to police, the officer was waiting for a friend outside 1309 Clinton Avenue early Monday morning. They say a man approached and asked the officer what he was doing. Police say the two then argued and that's when the suspect fired shots at the officer.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the officer returned fire and hit the suspect once in the stomach. The suspect then tried to run but was apprehended and taken to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Police say charges are pending.
