Bronx Catholic school teachers stage another sickout due to contract dispute
Teachers at four Bronx schools staged another sickout Friday as part of an ongoing contract battle with the Archdiocese of New York.
St. Francis Xavier is one of the four schools affected by the sickout. Just before Christmas, the archdiocese offered the teachers a one-year contract with a 3 percent raise. The union claims it never had a chance to discuss it with the teachers and the archdiocese pulled the offer off the table. But the archdiocese claims the union rejected the contract offer. Union representatives say the teachers are fed up and that's why they resorted to a sickout.
Parents say their kids are the ones who are paying the price.
