Con Ed working to restore gas to BX buildings affected by manhole explosions

Con Edison crews continue to work on restoring gas to buildings affected by a series of manhole explosions over the weekend.

The first explosion happened Saturday night. According to Con Ed, it was the result of an electrical wire short-circuiting. Then on Sunday a gas main break caused a few more explosions. A Con Ed spokesperson says as many as 23 buildings were affected and lost power, hot water and heat.

Con Ed says it will take time to finish restoring gas to the area.
