Two precincts in the Bronx added to list of high crime areas

NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly announced that crime is down in high crime areas but admits that a lot more needs to be done.

Kelly credits the reduction to the city's 2-year-old crime fighting initiative known as Operation Impact. Under that plan, the 47th Precinct has been taken off the list due to a reduction in crime. However, both the 40th and 44th precincts in the Bronx have been added to the list of high crime areas.

There are now a total of five Operation Impact areas in the Bronx. The other three include the 52nd, 43rd and 46th precincts.
