Deadline day for turkey factory in Parkchester to prove it's cleaned up its act

It's deadline day for the LSK Smoked Turkey Products Factory on Bronx River Avenue. The factory must prove to the city Tuesday that it has cleaned up the air quality emanating from the plant.

Residents living near the factory have been complaining about the smell coming from the plant for about two years. Pressure from the community forced city officials to take action, giving the factory owners a limited amount of time to fix the problem. The company even received numerous air pollution violations over the last year.

According to a representative from the turkey factory, odor-eliminating equipment has been installed. The representative says factory officials are confident that the factory will pass inspection.
