BX Catholic high school teachers? union, archdiocese back at bargaining table

The union representing Bronx Catholic high school teachers headed back to the bargaining table Tuesday to resume contract talks with the archdiocese.

Several weeks ago some of the teachers staged sick outs. However, the Lay Faculty Association and the archdiocese are still discussing contracts. A spokesperson for the teachers? union expects the talks to continue for a while. The union is trying to get higher salaries and better benefits for teachers.

A spokesperson for the archdiocese says both sides need to meet somewhere in the middle. The archdiocese spokesperson also says a meeting has been set up for Friday with the union representing Catholic elementary school teachers.
