Homeowners in the Bronx urged to have houses inspected before purchase

Homeowners in the Bronx are urged to have their future houses inspected before they purchase them.

One Belmont resident recently bought his first home and quickly found it was nothing but problems. Ben Cunningham says a good inspector could have saved him a lot of time and money.

Cunningham says the realtors, who were unlicensed and now nowhere to be found, overcharged him for the home. According to Cunningham, the realtors also referred him to an inspector who didn?t see a boulder inside the home as a problem.

To avoid a situation like Cunningham?s, officials recommend residents check with the Better Business Bureau to see if realtors and inspectors are licenses. Officials also recommend people get referrals from a friend or relative and ask inspectors about their training.
