Eastchester resident evicted from apartment after complaining about landlord

Amanda Solomon of Eastchester claims a call to the city?s help line about her housing problems landed her an eviction.

After complaining to her landlord about leaks, mold, noisy neighbors, and lack of heat, Solomon claims the landlord said ?if we don?t like it, move out.? After that incident, Solomon called 311, and found out her landlord was within his rights to evict her family.

The landlord, Royston Kinlock, says Solomon and her family have been problem tenants who often complained, but rarely paid the rent on time. He also says that with all her calls to 311, the city has yet to issue any violations.

Solomon?s family has until the end of the day, January 31 to move out. However, Solomon says since she and her family have no place to go, they?re going to stay put for now.
