Hundreds protest lack of affordable housing in Bronx and city

Hundreds of Bronx and city residents took to the steps of City Hall Wednesday to protest the lack of affordable housing.

Protesters are calling on state and local leaders to pass legislation that would keep rents at an affordable level. In addition, they want more to be done in the way of affordable housing. The protesters demands include having state and city leaders use money from the Battery Park Authority for city housing, rezoning areas for affordable housing, making permanent housing for people with HIV and AIDS, and guaranteeing that residents in city housing have clean living conditions. Residents are also angered over the change to Section 8.

Overall, the protesters say state and city leaders really need to step up to the plate.
