Carrion delivers fourth and final State of the Borough address of his term

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. delivered his fourth and final State of the Borough address of his term Thursday.

In his address, Carrion focused on some of his accomplishments including how the unemployment rate in the borough has plummeted. He spoke about the success of his Bronx at Work program, which features a marketing campaign to lure businesses to the Bronx and a Web site to help residents find jobs.

Carrion also highlighted his efforts to increase the number of senior programs in the borough. Other issues included education and the environment. He also vowed to fight for better housing programs in the wake of Section 8 funding cuts and the phasing out of Mitchell Lama properties.

The borough president is expected to run for re-election come November.
