Riverdale residents voice concern over growing parking problem

Residents in Riverdale are voicing concern Friday over what they say is an increasing parking problem in the area.

The residents say as more new buildings go up, there is less and less parking. At 237th Street and the Henry Hudson Parkway, a 19-story building is being constructed. The developer says parking will be up to code, but some residents are skeptical. In addition, there's word of another building going up at the Knolls Crescent Co-ops, where a parking lot now stands.

Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) says he plans to help ease the parking problem by working to change city code to require more parking spots when a new building goes up, and relaxing alternate side of the street parking rules.
