Two more sex offenders move into neighborhood near Edenwald schools

Just one day after learning a convicted sex offender moved into their neighborhood, Edenwald parents were notified that two other offenders are living near area schools.

Many concerned parents are outraged that three sex offenders are living in their neighborhood. On Monday, the Department of Education sent home letters to parents with children in P.S. 111 notifying them a convicted sex offender moved in nearby. Parents learned of two more sex offenders Tuesday.

A New York State law requires convicted sex offenders and pedophiles to alert the police when they move into a new community. Police officials say one of the offenders is convicted child molester Tyrell Perkins. Police officials add that another one of the offenders was convicted of raping a 20-year-old woman.

Education officials say they are evaluating their policy of how Bronx parents actually find out when sex offenders move near schools. They add an update to the policy will be ready in six months.
