Carrion expresses concern for the BX due to federal, state, and city budget cuts

The message from the borough president at Thursday's budget hearing was the people of the Bronx must ban together and fight the federal, state, and city cuts that could have a negative impact on many programs.

Jobs, housing programs, after-school programs and elderly programs are just a few that could be in jeopardy. Borough President Adolfo Carrion said school construction is a major concern. Due to state cuts, he said the 27 new schools slated to be built in the Bronx would be put on hold.

Groups such as the Bronx Historical Society and the YMCA attended the hearing and also expressed concern over the threat of losing funding.
