Turkey factory temporarily closed after complaints by Parkchester residents

Years of complaints by residents living in Parkchester have finally resulted in the temporary closure of L.S.K. Smoked Turkey Products Inc.

The factory has received numerous violations and was ordered by the city to clean up its act by January 25, which it did by adding an air filtration system. But residents say just days later the smell was back. Most recently, they complained of a foul smell mixed in with a chemical odor coming from the plant. Department of Environmental officials were called to the plant and once again issued the operators a summons.

While residents are happy about the temporary closure, they say they wish it were permanent.
