Construction of water filtration plant in Van Cordlandt Park resumes

Construction of a water filtration plant in Van Cortlandt Park has resumed after a temporary restraining order barring work was lifted.

The order was put in place following a lawsuit by the Bronx Environmental Health and Justice Organization. The water filtration plant, which will be built underneath the Mosholu Golf Course, has been met with opposition since the beginning.

The first phase of the project includes re-routing traffic on East 233rd Street to make way for a new ramp, and removing and replanting trees. Full construction is expected to begin in April.
