Former Met becomes new landlord of two Mott Haven Section 8 apartments

A former Met is giving hope Wednesday to tenants at two Mott Haven housing complexes by vowing to fix conditions as the new landlord.

Ex-first baseman Mo Vaughn is the new landlord of the Tehessalonica and Brook Haven apartment complexes. Along with Mayor Bloomberg, the two announced that the Section 8 buildings would receive new kitchen cabinets, stoves, refrigerators, floors, and bathrooms. The buildings' roofs have been repaired, locks have been restored and security cameras will be added.

In addition to fixing up the buildings, the mayor promised that rents would remain affordable. The mayor says he plans to continue making improvements to low-income housing in the Bronx because it helps improve the quality of life. And to help the effort, Vaughn says he is looking to invest in more housing complexes in the Bronx.
