Roller hockey rink heading to Morris Park despite years of controversy

A controversial plan to bring a roller rink to Loreto Park has finally been given the green light.

A rink for the Morris Park Roller Hockey League will replace the cement softball court that is currently in the park. The community board representing the Morris Park area feels the approval of the rink plan is a victory.

But not everyone is happy with the change. An adult softball team that played in Loreto Park for years will now be forced to play its games elsewhere. Others felt the rink was too big and consumed the entire park.

In addition to the roller rink, a new kids softball field and playground will be built, and there will be an area created to hold free summer concerts. Construction is set to begin in June.
