Work along Bronx River Parkway near Gun Hill Road could cause delays

An intersection that Bronx residents already call a nightmare is about to get worse with construction set to begin.

The intersection of East Gun Hill Road and the Bronx River Parkway is set to undergo construction. The Department of Transportation is going to replace the overpass with a new bridge. Due to the construction, drivers can expect lane changes and the closure of the southbound exit ramp on the Bronx River Parkway.

Residents say they have already plotted out alternate routes to avoid the area. Work is expected to begin on March 9 and will last about three years. The cost of replacing the bridge is about $9 million.
