Borough president calls governor's proposed health care cuts devastating

A report released by Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. finds that the governor's proposed health care cuts would be devastating to the Bronx.

The findings project an estimated $250 million loss to Bronx hospitals and nursing homes in a one-year period. In addition, both private and public institutions would be hit hard by proposed cuts to Medicaid reimbursements.

Carrion says with the health care industry providing jobs for 33 percent of all Bronx residents, the effects of the cuts would be damaging. He urges any resident who will be impacted by the cuts to write, call or e-mail the governor's office.
