Latest school report card shows dropout rate in Bronx and city is down

The latest school report card released by city officials shows that the dropout rate in the Bronx and city has dropped, but the number of kids graduating on time has remained the same.

Education officials call the news encouraging but say a lot more work needs to be done when it comes to making sure more students graduate on time.

The Bronx number for dropouts is 14 percent compared with the citywide average of 16 percent. And the state average for students graduating on time is 70 percent while the Bronx is at 54 percent.
