Tracey Tower residents still wonder where increased rent is being spent
Residents living in Tracey Towers claim there are ongoing maintenance problems in the building despite being promised better service when their rent was hiked.
Yolanda Ellerbe says her window shattered from high winds so she put in a call to building management as an emergency. She says workers put up plywood but told her that it would take at least a week to get a permanent window. She says in the meantime it's been like living in an icebox, adding that the slow service is just another example of the ongoing maintenance problems at the building.
Residents? complaints come after being hit with two rent hikes with a third slated to kick in next year. The building's management company promised better services and improved maintenance, but residents say elevators are not serviced, structural damage is ignored and heat and hot water are constantly out.
The residents are now trying to organize an emergency meeting with elected officials to get something done. Calls by News 12 The Bronx to the management company were not returned.
