Lay Faculty Association accepts three-year contract deal from archdiocese

It's the end of catholic school teacher sickouts in the Bronx. The Lay Faculty Association, one of two unions asking for a new contract, accepted an offer from the archdiocese Thursday. The Lay Faculty Association represents teachers at three catholic high schools in the Bronx. After weighing their options, the teachers decided to vote in favor of the contract. The contract is made up of a three-year deal retroactive to September of last year. The teachers will get a 12 percent wage increase and enhanced pensions over that time. Although they accepted the new contract, teachers say the health plan isn't what they wanted. This is the same contract that the Federation of Catholic School Teachers accepted last week.
