Pest control school opens as part of ongoing war on rats in the BX and city
A new school is opening up to better train workers charged with battling the rat problem in the Bronx and city.
The Integrated Pest Management Control Academy will train city workers, including exterminators and inspectors, how to fight unwanted pests more effectively. The school is the latest tactic by the city in its ongoing war on rats.
According to the health department, the South Bronx is one of the most infested areas in the city. To help the effort to control the rat population, the health department has launched an indexing program in the Bronx, meaning inspectors will be going block to block looking for infestations.
