Union representing BX building workers reaches agreement with landlords

A deal between the union representing Bronx building workers and the landlord's association was reached Tuesday.

The more than 1,000 members of Union 32BJ, which includes building superintendents, porters, and repairmen, received a new three-year deal with a wage increase from $9 to $11. In addition, union members will have a $15 copay for doctor's office visits and there will be no cap on prescription drug spending.

The landlord's association originally said it couldn't provide much more because the low-incomes in the Bronx prevent them from raising rents.
