City Council blasts schools chancellor over latest budget numbers
The City Council had some strong words for the schools chancellor Tuesday claiming a half a billion dollars in the education budget is unaccounted for.
Schools Chancellor Joel Klein insists that is not the case and says he is aware of where the money goes. He says the City Council wants an exact dollar amount, which would require going through each school's books. He says money is being spent appropriately and results are happening.
The council members agree progress has been made in school reform but with a budget of nearly $14 billion, they want to see more accountability.
